An initiative sponsored by the Society for the Advancement in Biology Education Research (SABER) focused on promoting awareness, understanding and commitment to change academic biology environments to be more inclusive and strive for racial justice in STEM education.
Lab member Sophia Jannetty manages the University of Washington Biology Department graduate student blog SciPos. The blog is a platform for graduate students to share their work and for prospective students to learn about the department.
Lab member Maddy Scott is working with local biology makerspace SounBio to develop an outreach program for middle schoolers. Life Science Explorers will be an afterschool opportunity for students ages 12-14 to gain hands-on experience with molecular biology, with a pilot program scheduled to run Spring 2024.
